Lions KidSight is a life-changing vision screening program powered by dedicated Lions Club volunteers π¦. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to detect potential vision issues in children as early as possible, giving them the best chance to thrive in school and in life.Β
Operation KidSight focuses on preschool and elementary-aged children, typically between the ages of 6 months and 6 years. These are the critical years when vision problems can go unnoticed, yet early detection can make all the difference.Β
Using high-tech, non-invasive vision screening devices, trained Lions Club members can screen both eyes in just a few seconds β no eye drops, no discomfort, and no need for the child to read or respond. The screenings can help detect:
Nearsightedness & farsightedness π
Astigmatism π
Lazy eye (amblyopia)
Other early vision concerns β οΈ
If a potential issue is detected, parents are provided with a free referral to an eye care professional for a complete eye exam.Β
1 in 4 school-aged children has a vision problem that could impact their learning and development π. By catching these early, we're helping kids see the world more clearly β and succeed more fully. π‘π
Lions KidSight takes place at schools, daycare centers, community events, and health fairs. If you're an educator or caregiver, weβd love to partner with you to offer screenings in your area!Β
π 80% of learning is visual
If children canβt see clearly, they may struggle in school β often without anyone realizing why.
π 1 in 3 young children have poor but correctable vision
Many just need a simple pair of eyeglasses to see the world β and the classroom β more clearly.
β³ Undetected vision problems before age 7 can become permanent
Early screening can prevent lifelong challenges and set kids up for success.
